Clearly HBO listened to me, as Dany was put through a series of challenging rooms in a stone tower. I mentioned before that Pyat Pree (Ian Hanmore) was like a (more) creepy version of Richard O'Brien presenting the Crystal Maze. We didn't have any Dany (Emilia Clarke) in episode nine, so we got a double dose in the season finale as she visited the House of the Undying to get her dragons back. Loveable imp Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), alive but wounded in King's Landing, had to adapt to his new circumstances, with father Tywin (Charles Dance, superb) returning to assume the role of Hand. More sadly Osha (Natalia Tena) put her blade through Maester Luwin (Donald Sumpter), although it was unclear what the departing Iron Men did with debased Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) when they torched Winterfell. Jon Snow resolved his squabble with Quorin Halfhand, and proved his worth to the wildlings, not to mention feisty Ygritte (Rose Leslie). Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) showed she was no pushover on the road with Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster Waldau), slaying a few roaming Stark-affiliated bandits. Still, much to chew on from this season finale of this fantastic second series, even if it didn't quite hit the heights of episode nine.Īfter the climactic but messy battle at King's Landing, there were loose ends to be tied up. Most kings are lucky to last ten minutes. I doubt there are many Diamond Jubilee concerts in Westeros.
